Friesland gets its very own top level domain .frl. The first pioneers have already taken the lead on December 2 by launching their new .frl domains. The introduction phase for trademark holders will follow in the New Year, with the priority phase for Frisians then commencing on February 2, 2015.


2 December 2014, 2 pm CET: The first pioneers go live. Other pioneers will follow during the rest of the month.

1 January 2015, 1 pm CET: Sunrise (TMCH) phase. Domain names will be registered on a first come, first served basis, but only for companies with a trademark registered with the TMCH. More information.

2 February 2015, 2 pm CET: Landrush period with precedence given to Frisian companies and private individuals. Anyone can register a domain name, but the decision as to who has the most right to a domain name will not be made until after 2 April. 14 April 2015, 2 pm CET: General Availability with domain names being assigned on a first come, first served basis to the public worldwide.
